All kinds
of people enjoy expressing themselves on the internet. Some do it for fun, some
do it to be heard and seen, and some do it like a diary so they can document their
doings.
If you post
your work on the internet it’s out for everybody to copy your work. Even the
smallest of ideas can be stolen and used for the thieves own benefit. The
smartest thing you do is to copyright your creations with a copyright symbol,
name and the creation year. Many don’t know that the image is copyrighted from
the moment it is born. This is your product.
I found a blog
with beautiful drawings from
Adam.
Every single image was easy for me to copy or save at
my computer. This is allowed to do, but in the minuet you put the image in your
blog and post it, without asking for permission from the person who created the
drawing, then you break the rules. This is
stealing!!!
Let’s talk more about Adam. To use his work in this task I have to
ask him if that’s all right. So I left a comment under the picture I wanted to borrow. I haven't got a answers yet!!
All that's created by the mind is Intellectual Property. What can be done to prevent
stealing from happening? Include
copyright to your products and this will maybe not happen. How to do this in Photoshop? Do you need a copyright symbol, these are for free. Do you need a copyleft symbol ? (This is like copyright-free)
Even if the
copyright is included in an image people can use it without asking if it’s okay
to use. They can transfer it to a program and try to take away the copy mark or just
use it like it is and hope it turns out fine.
Everyday
people around the world young and old are searching the internet for picture to
use in different assignments. So if you’re not making this creation yourself…..you
have to ask. An example:
I’m a teacher
and all the time I make PowerPoint presentations for the pupils. In a
presentation it’s about 10 pages and this includes from 1- 4 pictures I find on
the internet. After learning about copyright I have to ask around 40 people if it’s
okay to use their materials. I think I’ll use my own pictures from now on!!!
Or
there is another way……
If you use Google in search of the pictures, you can
write: copyright-free or copyleft (lion). Then Google will show you all the pictures of lions
that are free to use. This is clever!!! Go hunting!!!
